Power Up Your Math Skills

Parents were invited in to see and play all the math games we play in our classroom. We introduced War, Parking Lot Domino, Fill the Cup and Mirror, Mirror... we explained how we take a deck of cards, dominoes, and dice to encourage counting, number sense and one to one correspondence.

We are so excited that we have arrived at the time of year to work on Stores... Students shared where they visit with their families and what kind of environmental print they know.

MUSIC in K4

This week we jumped into our Music Unit full speed by talking about What Instruments Can We Blow... We read the story Blowing... during small group we made a Kazoo and played the song Happy Birthday. Later student had the opportunity to visit the Middle School Band, where students listen to and explored instruments.

Later in our classroom students were able to get a chance to have an up close  hands on experience with the Brass and Woodwind instruments.

Meet Di-Di

OMG!!!.... Oh My Teach just got a MelonHeadzDoodle... Her name is Di-Di and I love her. I purchased the build a teacher kit from Etsy and a few minutes later Di-Di was born. She will be a great addition to my TpT products and Post on my blog.

Interactive Writing

How do you feel about Interactive Writing? Here students exploring writing by discussing a lot of different topics... student wrote about rhyming words, labeling a Construction worker and steps to building a house.
Student build their letter writing skills and letter sound and inventive spelling skills. Interactive Writing is a keeper in the classroom.

Smart Art Intergration

Students were able to meet Mrs. Tromsness who is teaching them about acting and retelling their favorite Fairy Tales... here they are using a Nursery Rhyme to weave a yarn web to the song Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Students practice number sense when placing magic beans in the bean stalk. Students roll a die count the dots and place that many magic beans in the Beanstalk tower.

Castle Construction

Students used their prior knowledge of structures to build their Fairy Tale Castle from recycle material.

Construction is a Go!!!!

Students are ready and excited about our Construction Unit. We started the morning with the song London Bridges and then we did a pre-assessment of "What does a bridge looks like to you?" The next day we created Clause Monet Famous Bridge Art... using painters tape and watercolor.

Pumpkin Exploration

This week students are Exploring Pumpkins. We started our morning off by measuring, weighing, and drawing our pumpkin. We also made predictions about our pumpkin... How many seeds are inside? Will our pumpkin Sink or Float in Water? Later that after noon it was time to cut into our pumpkin and see what is inside. Students were quite surprised to see so many seeds and feel how gooey the inside of our pumpkin was.

Fall is in the Air

This week we are jumping into our mini fall unit before our next big unit. This week students dove into apple exploration. We read The Apple Pie Tree and made a list of ingredients we would need to make an Apple Pie... but the best part was tasting this delicious treat.
